Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the death of Winston Churchill, arguably the greatest leader of the 20th century. This brief video contains footage of his state funeral.
In yesterday’s National Review Online, Victor Davis Hanson argues that “the United States has never owed more to a foreign citizen than to Winston Churchill, a monumental presence 50 years after his death.”

Thanks for the recommendation of Keegan’s biography of Churchill; it was an easy and enjoyable read.

Thanks, Charlie, for pointing us to this article and video clip on Sir Winston Churchill, a steadfast and inspiring leader. Although I don’t know enough about him to know where he stood in his faith, I can’t help being moved and emboldened by these sober reminders of the impact of his insight and courage. May we, with Christ in our hearts through his Spirit, be brave in walking in the good works which God has prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2)!
