Charlie Wingard is Associate Professor of Practical Theology, Dean of Students, and Director of Field Education at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi.
He received his B.A. in political science from the University of the South (1980). His theological studies took him to Princeton Theological Seminary, Vanderbilt Divinity School (M. Div. 1984) and Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary (D. Min. 1992).
Charlie’s love for the work of the pastor began at an early age. In 1958 he was adopted by a Presbyterian minister and his wife. His father introduced him to the ministry, frequently taking him on hospital and home visits.
Ordained in 1985, Charlie has served congregations in North Carolina, Massachusetts, Alabama, Mississippi before coming to Jackson in 2014. His hobbies include hiking, running, reading political and military history, and traveling with his wife, Lynne. He and Lynne love the ministry of hospitality and consider it an essential component of pastoral care.
The Wingards live in Yazoo City, Mississippi where Charlie serves as senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church. His goals are to serve his church faithfully and for his RTS students to love the work of pastor as much as he does.
